These bunkers face the Mozambique border over looking the Mukumbura river which formed the "no man's land" area ,and it was quite dry at that time.If it were in full flow would have looked impressive as it was fairly wide.In the near distance one can see a banana plantation which took the full brunt of retalliatary return fire at New Years eve 1974/75. We were fired upon around mid-night either from Frelimo and/or guerillas who reckoned trench war-fare was the go. After about 5 minutes of combined rifle and mortar bombs from the SAP and Intaf the entire plantation was razed to the ground.
